About Golden Frog Stitches

Hi friends,

We are a husband and wife team based in sunny South Africa. 
Terry is our brainy admin and finance guy and Kim (me) is the creative brains behind everything.

Since this is the very beginning and the landmark opening of our shop, I’d like to make it really special. So ... I would like to take you on our journey.

I took up the cross stitch needle in 2014 when I saw a beautiful magazine with a kit on the cover at our local grocery store. It looked a bit daunting (a small challenge) for me to do while I looked after my two precious babies.

There wasn’t much time available in the day with a toddler and an infant, but I was sure I could do this one small thing. And I did manage to do it ... and it turned out beautifully. I just loved it! I loved the process and the finished item (& I still have it). 

As time went on, I finished more of them and collected many more magazines, which I eagerly looked forward to every single month.

But, I am also an illustrator and an artist by nature and something needed to be done about that. I needed to make my own pictures but life was very busy. When I had the chance, in between raising my children, looking after a house and just going through daily life, I continued with my illustrations and my cross stitch, hoping that one day I would have the time to share my little designs with others.

I have to admit, that until about a month ago (that's over 10 years) I had totally given up on the idea. But I have been praying for the Lord to give me some sort of direction and He stirred in me the ambition to achieve my goal. And so here we are.

My children, my beloved husband and my entire extended family have been and are my best supporters, and I love them for giving me the courage to surge forward with this project. 

I hope you all will become part of the Golden Frog Stitches family and the greater cross stitch community too, as they are a super awesome bunch of people!

And my prayer is that cross stitch be as much of a blessing to you as it is to me.

Look out for a "blog", where I will giving you some background on why the name “Golden Frog” and where it came from.

Also, look out for some future 'blogs' (once a month I am hoping) where I will take you through my creative process. It really matters how things are prepared.
